Women’s Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers Kicksoff In Nigeria

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Tony Oghuma-Eghimai on Tuesday said six countries have arrived Nigeria for the final round for the Women’s Beach Volleyball qualifiers.

The final Beach Volleyball Olympics qualifiers will hold in Abuja from April 14 to April 17.

The Tournament is organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF) in conjunction with the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAV).

Oghuma-Eghimai said the remaining countries were expected to arrive the country before the end of today.

Morocco, Gambia and Namibia arrived Nigeria since weekend. Ghana and Sierra Leone arrived on Monday, Rwanda just arrived on Tuesday.

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF), Habu Gumel has made everything available for Nigeria to have a good hosting.

Mr Habu Gumel further stated that, the country’s biggest threat is Morocco and hope the coaches and players are ready to make us proud for this crucial round of qualifiers,

Out of 12 countries, South Africa and Kenya have withdrawn from the competition, we are expecting nine counties now,’’ he said.

Ten countries are expected to participate in the competition taking place in Nigeria. Theses countries include; Morocco, Gambia, Namibia, Egypt, Mauritius, Rwanda, Mozambique, Burkina-Faso, Sierra-Leone and Ghana.

The first team from the qualifying series will go to the Olympics while the second and third teams will qualify for the World Cup and World Championship, respectively
