House Of Reps Investigates Gas Emission In Delta State

The House of Representatives has adopted a motion mandating the committees on Environment and Gas Resources to urgently investigate and report back to the House within three weeks Gas Emission and Pollution which extensively damaged the environment and adversely affected the health of an entire community in Ndokwa East, Delta State in 2009.
The House observed that the post impact assessment and field reports by a joint investigative visit on the 29th of December 2009 required that the Nigeria Agip Oil Company effect immediate repair and compensate the affected community. The members called on Agip oil to comply with the recommendations which it had earlier agreed to implement.
Also, the House received the Committee of Health reports on a bill which seeks to provide for the regulation of Tobacco or Tobacco products in Nigeria and the report on a bill seeking to amend the National Hospital for women and children Abuja to National Hospital Abuja.
