NATIONAL LIBRARY ON NIGERIA’S CENTENARY

An exhibition in commemoration of Nigeria’s centenary celebration has opened at the national library Abuja.

the   exhibition  showcasing pictures and books captures Nigeria’s  historical moments from pre-colonial era through imperialist domination and nationalist struggles to independence.

The national library came into existence by an enactment of the national library of Nigeria act 1964.the exhibition is to last for one week

Over the years the country has achieved great feats in social, academic, political and economic spheres that are recorded and preserved in the national library of Nigeria for posterity.

Chief Executive officer of National Library of Nigeria Habib Jato led participants all decked in Nigeria’s national color round the exhibition stand explaining pictures of some of the actors that have been involved in the making of Nigeria’s history.

The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate the golden jubilee of the nation’s national library, with the CEO, Mr. Jato enumerating its achievements in the past 50 years to include a robust website, establishment of a national library in 26 states of the nation with e-learning facilities to boost its services to the public.

Although no specific date was given for completion of the ongoing new national library complex in Abuja, Mr. Jato however assured that the project has reached advanced stage.
