The FG 10,000 Housing Units
The Federal Government is to provide 10,000 housing units through the Nigeria mortgage refinancing company.
Finance minister and coordinating minister of the economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Eweala stated this during the housing stakeholders’ implementation summit in Abuja.

The Story
Shelter is one of the basic needs of man. It provides man a place to rest after challenging and stressful daily activities. With about seventeen housing deficit this remains a source of concern when man finds it difficult to afford a comfortable house for his family.
This informed the launch of the Nigeria mortgage refinance company (NMRC) on 6th Jan. 2014 by President Goodluck Jonathan.
At the housing stakeholders’ implementation summit with the theme, finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala says the housing sector is one capable of growing the economy and eradicating poverty through job creation.
Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Akon Eyakenyi says with the effective take off of the NMRC, the goal to broaden access to home ownership will be realized.
Interest groups at the event extolled the government initiative as a major stride towards meeting the housing needs of the populace and jobs creation.
