Nigeria Power Forum
Federal government says it is ensuring that the impact of the privatization in the power sector is directly felt by the Nigerian people. Power Minister, Prof. Chinedu Nebo was speaking at the Nigeria Power Forum in Abuja. Key players from the public and private sector gathered here to discuss an issue of priority in the yearnings and aspirations of most Nigerians …the power sector.
Under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Power, the experts and stakeholders are looking at the challenges and the way forward in the sector. The privatization policy of the government aimed at transforming the critical sector received wide commendation here. But its opportunities, prospects and post implementation challenges are the issues on the table.
The common concerns of most Nigerians on availability of Prepaid Meters and the necessity for the fix charge were also brought to the fore. The privatization of the PHCN assets is over and that of the NIPP underway, hopes of Nigerians and the indeed the world are high on the benefits of the policy on the socio-economic life of the people. With the strides in motion and the attending challenges of low gas supply, vandalism among others and their multiplier effects on the sector, power minister says the government looks out for practicable solutions on some of the critical issues necessary for the development of the sector from the conference.
