In the times of old, the elderly all over the world were revered as the reservoir of knowledge and wisdom, and as the key to family values passing such from one generation to the other.

Today, the reverse is mostly the case, as not only are they seen as a burden to even their children, but most governments forget to in place formal structures that will either integrate or take care of them.

Nigeria, through the National Universities Commission in collaboration with the University of Northern Texas, Denton, USA is poised to change that through the introduction of Aging Studies for Care Givers in 24 selected Nigerian cities as a pilot.
