Foreign Affairs Minister at Platform

Giving the mid-term performance index on behalf of his colleagues, the Minister of Foreign Affairs One and Two, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru said Nigeria’s Foreign Policy thrust has been that of economic and citizenship diplomacy.

On Nigeria’s role at the International scene, the Minister said Nigeria single handedly stabilized the crisis in Cóte D’Ivoire, restored Guinea Bissau and deployed 1,200 troops to Mali.

The Period under review also saw Nigeria securing seventeen positions in International Organizations and three in the African Union a feat never achieved in a decade.

The two year mid-term review is not without challenges, the greatest being Consular, the Minister admits, particularly UK Visa.
