UN Under Secretary Appraises Visit to Nigeria
The UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Baroness Valerie Amos has rounded off her visit to Nigeria with a call for closer collaboration between Federal, State and Local Governments for prompt handling and management of disaster issues. Speaking to Newsmen after her visit to various states in Nigeria, Baroness Amos said the collaboration of the three tiers in addition to the support from the United Nations is a desirable effort that will ultimately tackle issues of disaster as promptly as possible.
The Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Muhammed Sani Sidi commended the UN Under Secretary for the visit, hoping that it will go a long way in strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and the United Nations in the management disaster.
