First Lady Denies Report

The office of the First Lady has denied a report published by a National Daily that the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan influenced the suspension of Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi from the PDP by the National Working Committee of the party. In a statement, the Special Assitatnt Media to the First Lady, Ayo Osinlu described the so-called investigation by the newspaper which claimed that the First Lady summoned the National Working Committee of the party to suspend Governor Amaechi as laughable and a desperate attempt to demonize her.

The Special Assistant wondered how the National Working Committee of the PDP with all its respected elders can be summoned and given stern directives to carry out an action that borders on Party discipline and administration as claimed by the newspaper.

Mr. Osinlu further said that the First Lady was neither an elected official or the Party, nor a Party functionary and should therefore not be organized into issues she has no knowledge of by desperate politicians using a section of the media. He callenged the newspaper to name its so-called “anonymous” sources who claimed to be at the meeting where the First Lady was said to have summoned the PDP National working Committee.
