Supreme Court Upholds Senator Nwogu's Election

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Senator Nkechi Nwogu as the Senator representing Abia Central. The affirmation came in a judgment delivered by Justice John Afolabi Fabiyi at the Supreme Court.

The crux of Senator Nwogu’s legal battle over her Senatorial election has not been about whether she actually won or not, but whether her Local Government, Osisioma Rigwa Local Government Area falls under Abia Central which she represents of Abia South. She even lost at the Court of Appeal on those grounds. But the Supreme Court in the final pronouncement has now affirmed that all documents and maps show that she solidly belongs to Abia Central.
