Police Week: IGP Assures of Image Restoration

The Minister of Police Affairs Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade while commending the IGP and histeam for the maintenance of peace in the country assured them of President Goodluck Jonathan’s commitment to police professionalism and welfare. The IGP said the essence of the Police Week celebrations which remain unmarked since 1976 is to create interaction with the public and bridge the widening gap. He added that the week is to showcase police achievements, do self appraisals and project for the future.

Among the many activities lined up for the celebrations are free medical outreach to communities, career talks and presentation of items to selected schools, quizzes, symposiums and the launch of “Nigeria Police, the Journey so Far.” These will culminate in Jumaat prayers and Church services on Sunday. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Connecting with the people for more effective policing.”
