DPR Raids Illegal Petroleum Depots

The Special joint raids of illegal petroleum dealers’ hideout started at Danziyal Plaza, Central Business District, Abuja where a car with diesel in jerry cans was impounded. At the back of the plaza, hundreds of drums laden with petroleum products were also discovered and some arrests were made.

The team also made arrests of some other suspects at another illegal point where a tanker was also impounded. The leader of the DPR team Mr. Kollomi Yerima said the raid followed a tip off and warned illegal operators to stay off.

As the crew tried to move the suspects away, the illegal operators pelted the team with stones and other weapons as they tried to rescue their colleagues. The suspects were taken to the FCT Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, where the Commandants assured that the suspects would be charged to court.
