Update on Nigerian Troops in Mali

Nigerian Troops are advancing their campaign in the on-going war in Northern Mali having captured one of the strong bases of the rebels called Banamba. A Nigerian Delegation, comprising the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad visited the troops and met them in high spirit and already entrenched.

The delegation had earlier on arrival in Bamako, proceeded to the Senour Air-base where they met a contingent of Nigerian troops awaiting deployment to the frontline. Admiral Sa’ad advised the troops to stick to the rules of engagement and make dedication and discipline their creed. He re-affirmed the commitment of Nigeria and ECOWAS to defending the territorial integrity of the Republic of Mali.
